My final thoughts
Band of brothers is a great series that tells the story of the easy company 506th regiment 101st airborne and it is the best movie to tell that story. At the end of the last episode it had some discussions with the surviving men of Easy and those were really interesting especially what winters said and it has stuck with me since I saw it. Winters was talking to his grandson one day and he asked "grandpa were you a hero in the war?" Winters said no. Then he said "But I served in a company of them." and that really has stuck with me because it really is powerful because every last on of them were heroes even Winters. I really think that these movies are really good for young people to see because this generation is dyeing off and so are there Storys. And it is important to now where the country has come from. This generation was called the greatest generation and in my opinion every generation of soldiers is the best of there generations.
"Points"
The final episode of a great mini series. And they end it on a good one. In this episode we are back with Winters where easy company moves really quick through Germany . In this episode the men of easy company take one of the most important things to the Germans, the eagles nest. The eagles nest was a bunker high in the mountains that the Germans built for Hitler. And the Americans took it with out a round fired shortly after that the war in Europe ends. And every one is excited to get home. But the military had a point system in which you had to have a certain number of points in order to go home. And many of them didn’t so they had to do meaningless tasks in order to get them. One scene in the episode is where some of easy pulls up to some stopped jeeps in to road. A drunken U.S. had shot a German and a British solider for not giving him gas and after fight he shoots one of the guys in the head. He some how survived but has a lot of recovery to do. And that guy that shot the guys was arrested. Even though many troops didn’t have the points to go home the war in the pacific ends and the war finally end in the pacific and they all get to go home. One of my favorite parts of this episode was where they go through what all the men did after the war and that was really interesting.
"Why We Fight"
Episode Nine was a really emotional episode. You are with Lewis Nixon and his problem with alcohol. At this time in history most of the fighting was over for Easy and life had become normal again. Nixon has had an alcohol problem seen the first episode but now it really strikes out and he dose some crazy things to get it. For the rest of the men they stumbled upon a concentration camp well on patrol. And this has a real strong effect on the men. Even when they aren’t on the front they still see the horrors of war. And that seen really makes you think of what it was like to be a prisoner in one of those concentration camps. I think the thing that really got to me was that the German shot as many as they could and when they ran out of ammunition they burned the huts with people still inside them. I could not image what it would have been like to find this. I thought that this was a very informative episode and really went in to the story of those camps.
"The Last Patrol"
Episode eight not one of my favorites but it didn’t have much action in it. This episode David Webster is the main character. He was wounded back in Belgium before the battle of the bulge and he finally return to his old unit. But they really see him as a new guy because he didn’t go thought the bulge even though he is a Taccoa man and saw combat in Normandy and Belgium . Also the unit makes a patrol to get some P.O.W. across the river and they suffer a casualty. At the end of the episode Easy company final gets pulled of the front lines. This was an ok episode but not really the best ones out of the ten. But like I sad not much action.
"The Breaking Point"
Episode seven my favorite episode in the whole series. This is really where some bad commanders are removed and good ones get promoted. In this episode you follow First Sergeant Carwood Lipton through some of the combat after the 101st was relieved by Patton. In this episode the company gets a really bad leader Norman Dike and all the men don’t want to fight under him. And it really comes clear that his is a bad leader during the attack on Foy Belgium. Winters who was again promoted to battalion commander dose not like his leading. My favorite scene is in this episode. it is where Dike freezes up and Winters almost runs out to yell at him but his commander yells at him to stop. And Winters turns doesn’t even ecologies his commander and tells 1st Lt. Ronald Speirs to relieve Dike. And with out hesitation Speirs runs out the takes over for Dike and becomes the best easy commander since Winters. Another good scene is where Speirs, after he takes command, needs to link up with another company. So he runs right through the enemy likes and hooks up with the other company on the other side. But just like Lipton says that wasn’t the surprising part after he hooked up with them he ran back. And to me that really shows a good commander. And I think from that moment forward easy company new they had a great commander. This is my favorite because it really shows heroes in the making.
"Bastogne"
Episode six another different viewpoint for and important battle. In this episode you are with Eugene "doc" Roe a medic during the battle of the bulge. The 101st is surrounded in a small town called Bastogne and you are following the medic thought the hardest combat the 101st has seen. And to add to it there was hardly any medical supplies. I mean he couldn’t even get a pair of scissors. In this one it really shows you some real heroes the medics. Because they had to do the same things the regular troops had to do but they were unarmed. Doc also fell in love with a nurse at a makeshift hospital. But sadly the hospital gets bombarded and she dies. I think that this episode really tells the untold story of the medics during the battle of the bulge because you only hear about the regular troops. A pretty good episode.
"Crossroads"
Episode five not one of my favorite episode to me it wasn’t as interesting as the others episodes. In this episode you were back with Winters, which was promoted to company commander. During this episode he leads and attack on a group of Germans. The guys had to make a dash across a field to get there and as he gets there he see a young German solider and is forced to shoot him. And this action haunts him for the rest of his life. At the end of the episode the 101st make a "tell gate jump" (where the troops get driven to the fight instead of jumping out of a plane.) and they get the first look at what is ahead of them. Also at the end there is one of my favorite in the series. Some commander is talking to Winters and as tells him that they are going to be surrounded. Winters replies with "we are paratroopers were suppose to be surrounded." and I really like that line. It my not be my favorite episode but it still is a good one.
"Replacements"
The fourth episode my second favorite episode in the series I really liked this episode because this was the one where my favorite character Sergeant Denver "Bull" Randleman is really introduced. He has been there since the beginning but never really talked about. In this episode replacement troops come in to take over for the ones that died in Normandy . And the Toccoa men (the original paratroops from basic training) really didn’t like that. The 101 also made there second combat jump in to Netherlands . As the men were fighting in a town Bull got cut of from the group and had to stay the night in an enemy occupied town. And had to kill a German solider with his bayonet. I liked this episode because Bull really became an older brother to the replacements and really helped them become one with the group. I really liked this episode because it was filmed really well and had a lot of heroes in it. A very good episode.
"Carentan"
Episode three, Kind of a different episode. In this episode you follow Albert Blithe thought his short time in combat. I thought that this episode was interesting because you went thought the eyes of a regular solider instead of a famous man. It really showed how a man changes through combat. Because he kept making excuses for not wanting to fight. Like on the night of the jump he fell asleep in a ditch and then he had flash blindness another time. This episode was didn’t just focuses on him it also went though small senses of the other characters to tell the story and the balance made it a really enjoyable episode. The sad part of the episode is the end where he was going to scout ahead and got shot. And he never recovered from his wounds and died in 1948. But wait he died in 1967. The writer of the book made a mistake and got the wrong information. He actually survived his wounds and continued the serves until he died suddenly in 1967. Over all a good episode.

"Day of Days"
In this episode the characters see their first combat where they jump in to Normandy France on June 6 1944. This episode continues right where the last on left of where the men are in the c-47 leaving the airbase ready to jump in to combat. For the majority of this episode you follow major winters, at that time he was 1st Lt. Winters, through the fight. As like most of of the series this is pretty historically accurate. This is really where you see what a good commander Winters will be. In this episode the legend of speirs is also introduced. I really like this episode because it really is the first combat that the men see and it is where they have to prove themself as a good fighter. also in this episode Winters and a small group of Easy company take over an enemy position and what they did later went down as a perfect why to attack a fortified position and it is still used today. I do like more episodes more than this one but this still is one of my favorite.

"Currahee"
the fist episode of band of brothers was really good. it was where we were first introduse to us. this also gave us a look at how the 101st airbore were trained and how difficult it was. this is were we meet Sobel the cammander of Easy (easy company with in the 101). in my opinion he was a good trainer and made Easy what it was. but when it came down to fighting he was terible and many of his men under his cammand said the same. one of my favorite parts of this episode was when Sobel gave Winters the papers for not following his cammand but the orders that Sobel sent never reached Winters. and winters either had to chose to spent his time on base or go it to cout for court marchaling. i really cant tell you what it was like but when you see it it is really good. at the end of the episode the men of easy fly off getting ready to jump in to the greatest invation in US history. the invation of normandy france.
